Rob Rutledge, MD FRCPC

Rob Rutledge, MD FRCPC has been a Radiation Oncologist specializing in breast, prostate and pediatric cancer since 1996 and is an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University. Rob grew up in northern Canada, completed his undergraduate degree and medical school in Toronto and his residency in Ottawa.

In 1993, inspired by Dr. Bernie Siegel’s book, Love, Medicine, and Miracles, Rob joined forces with a social worker in Ottawa to establish a men’s cancer support group.  “That first support group was pivotal – propelling me to take a deep dive into the science of the mind-body connection and how attitude and healthy habits can profoundly affect the health and happiness of people affected by cancer.” Since then, Rob has dedicated himself to working with cancer patients and survivors, and the organizations that support them, delivering hundreds of free public talks, webinars, and charity-led initiatives. He has organized and led 70 weekend retreats in 30 cities around the world, and conducted dozens of day-long healing seminars for patients and staff.

Though he loves his daily work as an Oncologist, Rob’s passion lies in empowering people at levels of body, mind and spirit, and empowering them to get the best care from the medical system. For decades he has closely tracked emerging scientific research on enhancing immune function, boosting energy, and building emotional resilience. With his extensive experience, he has provided guidance and counseling to people on diet, microbiome, mindful-based stress reduction, methods of reducing anxiety and fear, and more recently, cultivating and maintaining healthy habits. And he has dedicated over 30 years to studying remarkable cancer survivors – individuals who have achieved incredible outcomes against all odds, uncovering their unique attributes and strategies for success.

Over the past 27 years, Rob has dedicated himself to delivering numerous free public talks, webinars, and charity-led initiatives. He has organized and led 60 weekend retreats across 30 cities worldwide, as well as conducted dozens of day-long healing seminars for patients and medical professionals. Dr. Rutledge has an established track record of publications with 59 papers (H index 13, i10 index 16; 500+ lifetime citations). His collaborative research work with Dr. Ilie and others appeared in highly ranked journals such as the European Urology, Lancet, American Journal of Men’s Health, Psycho-oncology, Cancers, Current Oncology, and others.

Rob is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Gabriela and is excited to continue their impactful work together. The incredible synergy of their life experiences, professional development, and knowledge brings a unique and powerful dynamic to the program. Their collaboration represents the meeting of medicine and science, which is essential for promoting healthy living habits. Together, they inspire thousands of patients and their families to lead better lives. Through their combined efforts, they empower individuals to achieve optimal health and well-being, fostering a holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, and emotional resilience. This partnership is a testament to their shared dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

“Our journey together has been both joyful and meaningful and beneficial to so many. Interacting with hundreds of individuals through monthly video conferences and receiving weekly emails from people whose lives have been transformed by the program has been incredibly rewarding. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share this transformative experience with so many people.”
